Most Popular SizesIPE is a hardwood and we say hard we mean hard! IPE has a janka hardness rating of 3,680 lbs. Compare that to pressure treated yellow pine at 1,100 lbs. And western red cedar at 900 lbs. IPE is estimated by the U.S. forest laboratory to last 25 years or more. Some research has shown that IPE can last 15 years of ground contact with no termite infestation. IPE has a fire rated class a, which is the same as concrete and steel. There are virtually no knots or defects in the decking boards. If you oil it once a year, it will help to maintain its rich color. If you choose not to oil it, IPE will weather to a beautiful silver gray, much like teak furniture.
Our IPE decking is sold s4s (surfaced four sides) and e4e (eased four edges). Our flooring is sold with square edges and a standard tongue and groove. The flooring also has a relief cut in the back.
The lengths are sold random 8’-18’. Due to the demand for the long lengths (12’-18’) if a customer requests those sizes there will be and upcharge of 15%. All material is subject to prior sale and availability.
