Information about Cherry

Janka Hardness: 950 lbf

Cherry is a premium Appalachian hardwood celebrated for its rich, warm tones and smooth, straight grain. Ranging in color from light pinkish-brown to deep reddish-brown, Cherry naturally darkens over time, developing a beautiful patina that adds depth and character. It machines well, sands to a silky finish, and accepts stains and finishes with ease. Cherry is a favorite for fine furniture, cabinetry, millwork, and high-end interior applications where a refined, classic look is desired. Its blend of elegance, workability, and long-term beauty makes it one of the most sought-after hardwoods in the industry. Cherry is also used for paneling, interior trim, veneers, handles, crafts and toys.

Our Cherry Grades

FAS/Prime

FAS (First and Seconds) or Prime Grade Cherry features long, wide, and mostly clear boards with minimal imperfections. This top-tier grade showcases the natural beauty of Cherry's rich color and fine grain, making it ideal for furniture, cabinetry, and high-end architectural millwork where a clean, consistent appearance is key.

#1 Common

#1 Common Cherry includes shorter or narrower clear sections and may show more natural variation such as small knots or sapwood. It’s a popular choice for custom furniture, cabinet parts, and millwork projects where a touch of character is welcome and full-length clear cuts aren’t required.

#2 Common

#2 Common Cherry offers the most natural character, with visible knots, color variation, sapwood, and mineral streaks. It’s best suited for rustic furniture, wall paneling, or accent pieces where cost-effectiveness and unique wood personality are valued over uniformity.
