Ipe (pronounced “ee-pay”) is an ultra-dense, richly colored hardwood native to Central and South America, prized for its extreme durability and resistance to weather, insects, and rot. Often referred to as “Brazilian Walnut,” Ipe is a top choice for decking, outdoor furniture, siding, and boardwalks, thanks to its ability to outperform other hardwoods in harsh conditions. Its deep brown tones, tight grain, and natural oil content give it a refined appearance with minimal maintenance. With a Janka hardness of over 3,500 lbf, Ipe is one of the hardest woods available—built to last for decades even in exposed outdoor environments.
