Types of Cuts

Plain Sawn

Plain Sawn Red Oak Flooring is a classic hardwood choice, known for its warm tones and distinctive grain patterns that display cathedral-style curves. This traditional cut maximizes yield from the log while showcasing the natural beauty of Red Oak. It’s available in random widths of 3", 4", 5", or 6", and can also be ordered in specified widths up to 10".

Planks come in lengths ranging from 18" to 12', with an average length significantly longer than standard strip flooring, giving the floor a more expansive, seamless feel. Sold unfinished, Plain Sawn Red Oak can be stained to match any design vision, offering excellent versatility for residential or commercial spaces.
Each board has its own unique grain character, making Plain Sawn Red Oak a reliable, time-tested choice for timeless style and long-term durability.

Quarter Sawn

Quarter Sawn Red Oak flooring is a unique and durable hardwood flooring choice. Quarter sawn is the way the sawmill saws the log. Quarter sawn is more durable than plane sawn lumber and it is more stable than plane sawn lumber.

Quarter sawn lumber lumber takes longer to saw and longer to dry and that is why it is more expensive than plane sawn lumber. Random width 3, 4, 5 and 6" wide. 18"-12 ft long is our standard, but we can fill any order up to 11" wide!
